Yet, research is dynamic. Some projects require the flexibility of a custom-built setup, tailored to unique experimental needs. In other cases, budget considerations or strong in-house expertise favor a modular approach. To meet these scenarios, attocube offers Confocal Microscope (CFM) Base Kits - built for expert users and based on our proven components. Instead of a fully integrated system, you receive a selection of pre-assembled modules and components to create a custom optical cryostat insert, optimized exactly for your experiment. Three general versions with a varying degree of pre-integration give you exactly the level of flexibility that you need:
- cage plate version: A component-only option offering maximum flexibility for experienced home-builders.
- easy housing version: A semi-configured solution that simplifies the integration of the positioner/scanner stack, includes optimized wiring, and ensures vibration stability.
- rotation version: An easy housing version with a rotating base, enabling full 3D high field strength access with 2D vector magnets.
- trueNAV version: The high-end CFM base kit version, delivering the highest positioning precision available in any attocube insert yet.
Leveraging the attocube vertical integration principle, all inserts are finely tuned for seamless compatibility with the attoDRY cryostat line, ensuring optimal thermalization and performance under high magnetic fields. Thanks to our in-house manufactured components and rigorous engineering standards, the high configurability never compromises the assembly quality. This modular concept allows each attoDRY cryostat to host multiple optical inserts, each optimized for a specific experiment. Or simply put: one insert per researcher!

At the core of our CFM cage plate base kit lies a highly configurable basic insert - engineered for ultimate flexibility with feedthroughs for DC/RF wiring up to 40 GHz, optical fibers across multiple spectral ranges, and even gas capillaries. Unrestricted free-space optical access enabled by attocube LT-APO low-temperature objectives, ensure perfectly thermalized, drift-free, high-NA imaging without compromise. Choose your own sample holder or use an attocube sample holder on top of a positioner stack to precisely navigate to your sample's region of interest.

Unlike our cage plate variant, this configuration prioritizes minimal design changes while leveraging a robust, extensively validated architecture - proven by numerous customer publications based on this classical setup. By choosing the easy housing option, customers benefit from decades of attocube innovation, creating the ideal foundation for a vibration-optimized experimental setup with diffraction-limited performance.

This innovative design is aimed towards delivering exceptionally high magnetic fields in all directions. By rotating a sample with respect to the magnetic field vector of a 9-3 T vector magnet with minimal wobble and run-out, a full 3D sphere of 3T magnetic field strength becomes available. As 2D magnets typically have higher in-plane magnetic fields than 3D magnets, and are also cheaper, this comes as a double benefit for users.
If even more experimental flexibility is required, a very high in-plane field (9 T) can easily be achieved by switching from the Faraday configuration to the Voigt configuration with an optional sample holder kit.
