Cryogenic Optical Nanoscopy of 2D Electron Systems

In this webinar, we present cryogenic optical nano-spectroscopy enabled by the cryo-neaSCOPE+xs.

Together with Thomas Taubner (RWTH Aachen) we willl discuss s-SNOM results of buried 2D electron gas (2DEG)  at the interface between LaAlO3 / SrTiO3 (LAO/STO) at 8K temperature.

Barnett et al. showed that a fingerprint spectral range exists for 2DEGs, which allows to disentangle the charge carrier density and moblity at the nanoscale. This study was made possible by employing a novel OPO laser source, which leads to unprecedented high signal-to-noise nano-IR spectroscopy at low temperatures.

To round off the event, Clément Détourbe (attocube systems) will show how cryogenic s-SNOM experiments can be done in practice, showcasing the similarities and differences to measurements done at room-temperature.
