INTRODUCTION NANOPOSITIONING
:.........................................................................................
The great success of attocube systems’ positioners is based on the unique combination of a patented driving technology, the powerful design, the selection of high-quality materials, and the long experience of the attocube systems’ staff.
The product line of linear, rotary, and goniometer-like positioners and scanners offers you a chance to discover new experimental possibilities. The patented driving technology plays an important role in achieving a variety of applications. Depending on your requirements you can choose from different sizes, travel ranges, and direction of movement. Our positioners allow you to reliably move objects over centimeter range with atomic precision under a large variety of conditions such as ultra-low
temperature (less than 10mK), ultra-high vacuum (5x10-11mbar)
and high magnetic fields (31T). In addition, many of the positioners can be equipped with a position sensor for closed-loop operation with nm-resolution. By combining several stages it is possible to obtain positioning units with up to six degrees of freedom.
Overview
Overall we offer two types of nanopositioner series: one dedicated to ambient temperature conditions and one optimized for low temperature applications. However, due to certain features such as compact size or the use of non-magnetic materials the /LT compatible models sometimes have their advantages also for room temperature applications.

Remark:
For nanopositioner applications inside a dilution refrigerator we generally recommend to use /LT/HV compatible units.
Typical Applications:
|
sample positioning in Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) such as STM, AFM, CFM, SNOM |
|
beam and device alignment such as laser-beams, optical fibers, solid state waveguides |
|
wafer or chip alignment inside Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) for quality control and production |
|
crystal orientation in synchrotron or neutron beam facilities |
|
sample rotation in high magnetic fields at low temperature |

It has been a great pleasure working with attocube to set up two of our cryogenic microwave microscopes. The outstanding scanner/positioner stacks allow us to focus on the science precisely the way when we designed the systems. Many thanks to the highly responsive customer support for helping to choose the right parts for our application and troubleshooting during the operation.

We use attocube linear stages with optical and resistive encoders for positioning of samples relative to high resolution x-ray optics in a Scanning Transmission X-Ray Microscope (STXM). The microscope operates in ultra high vacuum, in magnetic fields and at variable temperature. attocube stages provide the unique capability of high precision long term stability positioning under such conditions, which is crucial for the successful operation of a STXM microscope that serves a broad community of researchers. In addition, we appreciate the excellent customer service and friendly personnel at attocube, always willing to find the solution allowing the client to successfully address a challenge.

Our experience working with attocube has been excellent. In our experiment it is crucial to combine high spatial resolution with a large scanning range. The combination scanner/stepper attocube system allows us to position smoothly and precisely within a very large scan volume, and works great. We are also very thankful for how responsive, informative, and helpful the costumer support team has been. |

| Due to very limited space in our setup, the compact nanopositioning solutions of attocube were ideally suited for our X-ray experiments; highest positioning resolution and stability were essential for a precise alignment of our waveguide with respect to the sample. A special thanks goes to the fast, elaborate and highly knowledgeable customer support attocube provides. |

| We have mounted the ECS positioner into our assembly and I have to say that it works perfectly well. It runs incredibly smooth, exactly the way I had hoped for. I would like to thank you once again for your support, you have been a tremendous help. |
